ABOUT GOLFERS’ CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
The Golfers’ Charitable Foundation is an independent organization of volunteers from the Baltimore business community. Our mission is to provide financial support for children and youth seeking a rewarding education and activities they choose. We are committed to children who encounter health issues and provide the essential financial support.
Each year, The Foundation donates proceeds from its core fundraiser, the Scramble for Kids Golf Tournament. Since 1967, The Foundation has contributed $3.7 million to area children’s and youth charities and organizations – impacting the lives of thousands of children.
Your tax-deductible donation will positively impact the youth of Baltimore.
HISTORY
1967
The Foundation was founded when it was feared that Baltimore would lose the LPGA golf tournament. A group of like-minded golfers was formed to promote and run the tournament in order to keep it as a civic event. There was one stipulation – all of the proceeds would go to charity. Accordingly, they adopted the name Golfers’ Charitable Association.
1987
The Foundation sponsored the first annual “Scramble for Kids” golf tournament. Mid-Atlantic golf professionals have participated in support of this tournament. The Board of Directors and volunteers have supported this annual fundraiser since its inception. The mission to fund and support causes related to children’s programs remains anchored in intention and purpose.
2017
The Foundation celebrates a distinguished record of 50 years fundraising in support of children’s health, athletic and outreach programs. This year also marks the 31st anniversary of the “Scramble for Kids” golf tournament, reaching the $3.0 million mark on behalf youth charities and organizations.
